Using your Inbox

Your Inbox is where you receive messages from potential buyers.

Within a conversation, you can see the buyer’s online status and local time. You can also view more information regarding the buyer—such as average response time, spoken languages, order history with the buyer, and if they are a Top Buyer on How My Freelancer works. 

How it works

To view all your messages:

  1. Log in and go to the Selling menu.
  2. Click Messages, and then Inbox.
  3.  Finally, click See All

To search for a specific conversation with a buyer or seller, click the magnifying glass icon and search for the conversation you want.

To find specific conversations, go to All conversations and activate a filter with the following options:

  2. All Conversations
    View all your Inbox conversations.
  3. Unread
    View unread conversations.
  4. Starred
    View conversations that you’ve marked with a star. To mark a conversation that’s important (star), click the star icon next to the conversation.
  5. Archived
    View conversations in your history (conversations you stored for viewing later).
  6. Spam
    Here, you can see conversations that were flagged as spam.
  7. Custom Offers
    View the conversations where you’ve received Custom Offers.
  8. Requests
    View conversations in which you requested quotes from other sellers.
  9. Follow-up
    View the conversations you marked with the Follow-up label. You also have the option to create your labels.

Types of Inbox actions

When you click the Actions icon within the conversation, you’ll be able to select from the following options:

  • Star/Unstar
    Use this feature to highlight specific users, conversations, or services. 
  • Mark as Read/Unread
    Keep track of your conversations, and answer when it’s most convenient.
  • Archive
    Use this feature when you would like to declutter your Inbox, but keep particular conversations that remain relevant to you, on hand.
  • Delete
    When you use this feature, you’ll remove the conversation from your Inbox entirely. Don’t worry, if you delete a conversation mistakenly, you can always search for a particular user using the “All Conversations” search.
  • Apply Labels
    Use this feature to highlight specific conversations, and interactions you would like to note—and as a way to organize your Inbox accordingly.
    By default, a folder per each label is created. 

  • Please note: Next to each label, you can click the Edit icon to rename the label or the Delete icon to remove the label.

Video calls

You may have a call even before an order is placed. Learn more about video calls here

Remember:

  • Video calls are based on Zoom
  • At this stage, only sellers can initiate video calls

Reporting Spam or inappropriate messages

To report a message as a violation of our Terms of Service or as spam:

  1. Hover your cursor over a message, and then click the Report or Spam button.
  2. If you selected Report, then select the reason.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Decide whether or not you would like to continue to interact with this user, and then click Submit.

Please note: If you experience an issue with a buyer during an order, please let us know immediately so we can assist. Once the order is completed, it will be possible to block the buyer.

Create a Custom Offer

You can send your buyer a Custom Offer. Sending Custom Offers gives you an opportunity to be proactive and offer your services to potential buyers, in a customized manner.
