The new Paid Consultations feature will allow eligible sellers to offer buyers the option to schedule and book a consultation—directly from your Seller Profile.

Take your workflow to the next level and utilize this feature to:

  • Connect with your buyer on a personal level
  • Discuss their project’s needs and align expectations
  • Leave a great first impression of your expertise and skills before they choose to purchase an order

About Paid Consultations

Eligible sellers will have the Paid Consultations features directly on their Seller Profile.
Note: Your Consultation works just like a regular Gig when it comes to buyer reviews, cancellations & refunds, and seller ratings.

Let’s review what you need to know before and after a buyer books a consultation.

Before a Consultation is booked

  1. Sellers will be able to access the feature’s settings on their Profile (preview mode).
  2. Buyers will be able to Book a consultation via the Seller’s Profile.
    Note: Buyers will be able to select a date starting from the next day up to a week.

For example: Let’s say today is Monday, January 15th, 2023 and a buyer wants to schedule a consultation. Then the buyer can book a time from Tuesday, January 16th, 2023-Tuesday January 23, 2023.
  1. Buyers will have to fill out a form with their order’s requirements (preset questions by How My Freelancer works) when they book the consultation, so that you can review it before your meeting.
  2. As soon as your buyer selects and reserves a scheduled time for a Consultation, an event will be created on your calendar with the event title: “How My Freelancer works consultation Details TBD”.
  3. The event will be replaced with more details once the buyer completes payment.
    Note: You’ll also receive an e-mail after payment has been confirmed, as well as, a reminder email 15-45 minutes before the scheduled call.
  4. If the buyer doesn’t complete the payment within an hour, the Consultation and calendar event will be cancelled, and that time slot will become available again.
    Note: Some buyers might take more than an hour to complete payment, and the event will be created only if the time slot is still available.

After a Consultation is booked

  1. Once your buyer schedules a consultation with you, your meeting will take place via a Zoom video call.
    Note: Make sure to review your buyer’s requirements the buyer submitted in advance.
  2. After the Consultation, you’ll need to write up a summary for your buyer and send it to them as a delivery (the written summary is the order’s delivery).
    Note: You’ll have up to 10 days from the order date to deliver your written summary—meaning you won’t need to send it the same day as the call itself, but it will be considered “late” if it’s not delivered within 10 days from the order date.
For example: Let’s say the day the buyer booked (placed an order) is Monday, January 15th, 2023, and the consultation is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 2023.
The delivery date will be Thursday, January 25th, 2023.
  1. Your buyers can access the recording for a limited time through the order’s page, too.

How to set up Consultations

To set up this feature:

  1. Go to Manage consultations to turn on the Consultation feature option.

  2. Select your preferred settings (availability and pricing) and save your settings.
  3. Your availability for Consultations on How My Freelancer works:
  4. Integrate with your Google/Office calendar.
  5. Select your general availability.
    For example: Monday-Thursday, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
  6. The pricing and package details of your consultations:
  7. Choose the type of session you offer.
    30 minutes, 60 minutes, or both.
  8. Provide the prices for each session’s length.
  9. Include a description for buyers.
    Explain what you offer consultations for, what they should prepare before your session, the languages you offer your services in, etc.
  10. Once you connect your calendar, the feature will automatically update your availability when you have an existing calendar event scheduled.

How to join your video Consultations

To join your scheduled video call, all you need to do is click the Join button.

You can access the Join button or video call link via:

  • The order’s page
  • Your calendar event
  • Your reminder e-mail
